About us

Ten years of building things that had to work.

PRS India is 45 engineers and designers in New Delhi. We have delivered over 500 projects since 2015, and we have learned most of what we know from the ones that were hard.

How it started

Two engineers, a rented desk in Ashram, and a bad reason to start.

In 2015 we started PRS India for the unremarkable reason that we thought we could do the work better than the people we had been doing it for. There was no thesis and no funding. There was a desk in Sun Light Colony, two engineers, and thirty projects in the first year — most of them brochure sites for Delhi businesses who wanted to be online by Diwali.

The turn came in 2017. A freight operator in West Delhi asked us to replace the whiteboard their dispatchers used to assign trucks. It was not a website. People would sit in front of it for nine hours a day and their working lives would be better or worse depending on how we built it. We got a lot of it wrong the first time, rebuilt half of it, and shipped something that is still running today.

That project taught us the thing that has shaped every year since: there is an enormous difference between software that demos well and software that survives contact with the people who have to use it. Most of the industry sells the first and quietly hopes you will not notice the difference until the invoice has cleared.

So we built the studio around the second. A principal engineer reviews every architecture before a line of production code is written. Every system is load-tested before launch, not after. Every handover includes an architecture document, tested backups and a session with your own engineers, because a project we cannot leave is a project we did not finish.

It makes us more expensive than the shop down the road. It also means about a third of our work now comes from teams who hired that shop first.
  • Founded 2015 in New Delhi. Still in the same neighbourhood.
  • 45 people, one office. We do not subcontract our delivery.
  • Over 500 projects delivered across India, the Gulf, the UK and the US.
2015 — 2026

The decade, without the polish.

  1. 2015

    The studio opens

Two engineers, a desk in Ashram, and thirty small projects in the first year.

  2. 2017

    Our first real platform

A dispatch system for a Delhi freight operator. Still in production nine years later. It taught us what software actually is.

  3. 2018

    One framework, one standard

We commit to Laravel and to a single set of conventions. Delivery speed doubles; the defect rate collapses.

  4. 2019

    Design stops being an afterthought

We hire in-house designers and stop subcontracting. The first PRS design system ships.

  5. 2020

    Remote in nine days

Lockdown lands mid-sprint. We do not miss a Friday demo. The DevOps practice is born out of necessity.

  6. 2021

    Mobile and cloud

React Native, Flutter, and infrastructure as code. From here on nothing ships without a pipeline and a runbook.

  7. 2022

    We start saying no

The 300th project ships, and we turn down our first client for the right reason. Revenue dips for one quarter and never dips again.

  8. 2023

    Regulated work

Payments and clinical systems bring audit trails, data residency and real security review. The whole studio levels up under the scrutiny.

  9. 2024

    The architecture review

Formalised. Nothing reaches a client without a principal engineer signing off on the data model and the load profile.

  10. 2025

    500 projects

45 people. Most new work arrives by referral, or from a team who tried cheaper first.

  11. 2026

    Ten years old

We stop calling ourselves a web design company. The work did not change. The honesty about its worth did.

Where we are now

The studio, in numbers we can defend.

Every figure here is countable, and we will show you the working if you ask. We have never published a metric we could not evidence, which is why you will not find "99% client satisfaction" anywhere on this site.

How we operate

Six principles. Each one has cost us money at least once.

These are not values on a wall. They are the rules we apply when a decision is inconvenient, which is the only time a principle means anything.

  • We tell you what not to build

Cutting a feature reduces our invoice. We cut it anyway when nobody is going to use it, because a bloated product is a slow product and a slow product is your problem, not ours.

  • The estimate is what we believe, not what wins the deal

We have lost pitches to studios who quoted half our number and delivered in triple our timeline. We will not buy a project with a fiction and then renegotiate it in month four.

  • Code is read far more often than it is written

Tests, reviews and conventions are not overhead. They are what makes the twentieth feature cost the same as the second, and they are why our clients can hire their own team afterwards.

  • If it is not measured, it did not improve

We instrument before we optimise. "It feels faster" is not a result. A p99 that went from 40 seconds to 3 is a result.

  • The client is in the room

You get repository access, board access and a demo of working software every Friday. Nobody at PRS India has ever had to manage a client by keeping them in the dark.

  • A project we cannot leave is a project we did not finish

Handover is a phase, not an email. Architecture docs, runbooks, a walkthrough with your engineers, and a period where we are on call while they take the wheel.

Inside the studio

What it is actually like here.

One office, one team, no subcontracting

Every person on your project sits in the same building in New Delhi. When something is on fire, they are in the same room. We have never handed a client engagement to a vendor and we do not intend to.

Friday demos, not status decks

Working software every week. It is a hard discipline and it is the reason our timelines are honest.

Every retro is read by the founder

Including the ones that say we got it wrong. Especially those.

We are hiring

Engineers, designers and delivery people who would rather be right than agreeable.

Ten years in, we still take the first call ourselves.

Tell us what you are building and what is in the way. If we are the wrong studio for it, we will say so on that call and point you somewhere better.
