Engineering
Senior Laravel Engineer
- Department
- Engineering
- Location
- New Delhi, India (Hybrid)
- Type
- Full-time
- Experience
- 5-8 years
You will own the backend of one of our product engagements end to end — data model, domain logic, queues, the lot. Our Laravel work is not CRUD-with-a-theme; it is settlement engines, logistics dispatch, and multi-tenant platforms where a slow query is a business incident.
We expect you to have opinions about database design and to defend them in review. You will be the most senior technical voice in front of a client, so the ability to explain a trade-off to a non-engineer matters as much as the code.
What you'll do
- Own the architecture and delivery of the backend on a client engagement, from data model to deployment.
- Write the code for the hard parts yourself — the domain core, the tricky migrations, the performance-critical paths.
- Review every pull request on your project and hold the quality bar when a deadline is pushing on it.
- Instrument what you ship: queries, queues and jobs land with metrics and alerts, not hope.
- Sit in discovery workshops and turn a client conversation into a defensible technical plan.
- Mentor two to three engineers, in review and in pairing, not in a slide deck.
What we're looking for
- Five or more years building and running production PHP, with at least three on modern Laravel.
- Deep, practical MySQL or PostgreSQL: you read query plans, you know why a query is slow before you profile it.
- You have taken something to production and kept it alive — queues, caching, background jobs, zero-downtime deploys.
- Comfortable with tests as a working tool, not a compliance exercise (Pest or PHPUnit).
- You can push back on a bad requirement in front of a client without being difficult about it.
- Bonus: Filament, event sourcing, or a war story about a payments or logistics system.
